Tell the story of where you are by using street and documentary approaches to photography along with an open, curious mind. Students will learn how to photograph their surroundings by finding inspiration in unlikely and likely places, doing background research and using their own unique experiences and views of the world. As an example, Lauren will bring students into her own project of Amelia Island and take them along her own journey, discussing the ins-and-outs of how she arrived at her project (using the same lessons she teaches to students). Additionally, she will provide shooting demonstrations to show how she uses documentary and street approaches to her Amelia Island project. Lastly, students will be encouraged to find their own project during their time at Click Away as well as within their everyday surroundings when they go home.
Students should have experience shooting in manual. The use of a 24mm, 35mm or 50mm lens is highly suggested. The class will take place on the grounds of the Omni Plantation, with walking involved.
Location: This outdoor boutique program will take place on the grounds of the plantation.
