As photographers, we are always looking for new and creative ways to tell a story. We learn to shoot in the light, to chase the light, to find the “perfect” light…but, what about the shadows? Whether you are a portrait, child, or family photographer, or photojournalist, there is story to be told through the shadows. Join me, Casey McCauley, on a photo walk in the low-light with models to photograph. Learn how to expose, shoot through the shadows, embrace shadows, and how tell to a story in the low-light.

Location:
This outdoor boutique program will take place on the grounds of the plantation.

Learning Objectives:
1. Exposure:
a. Learn how to creatively expose for low-light and shadows
b. Discuss “levels of low-light” and how you might expose for each

2. Composition
a. Discuss and utilize different techniques for shooting in low-light (silhouettes, partial silhouettes, layering, etc.)

3. Vision/Story:
a. Using movement in the shadows/low-light to enhance the story
b. Creative focus and how it will affect your story and vision
