If you love color or want to be more strategic and artful when it comes to using color, this class if for you. This classroom program will start with a discussion about color theory and will reveal how Mickie looks for color contrast and how much planning goes into her color choices before she shoots. Through the use of pullbacks and photo examples, Mickie will take the attendees through her thought process on how she approaches a location with color in mind. She will then transition to the editing portion of the class to show different methods of changing and manipulating colors to match her overall vision for the image. Mickie will demonstrate complete, start-to-finish edits in addition to specific techniques. Mickie will be using a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop for the editing portion.

Location:
This indoor boutique program will take place inside a classroom with a projector/screen.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn about color theory: what colors go together, how to create color contrast, how the mood of the image is affected by color

2. Understand the importance of clothing choices: why Mickie picks out her kids' clothes, what she looks for in clothing, where she shops, and what to do when your subject does not let you pick their clothes

3. Lean how to choose an environment that complements your color choices

4. See how to edit your images to make the color sing, including:
popping color using a variety of methods - curves, vibrance/saturation, sponge tool
using LAB color
changing the color of objects to strengthen the image
minimizing colors you don’t want
how to tone down an overly saturated color
how to check for out of gamut colors that won’t print well
graduated filter to change color scheme
